Power Seat Does Not Recline W Memory Seats

Test Descriptions

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. In order to conserve battery power, the memory Seat Module enters a sleep mode when ever the unit has not been active for 16 seconds. To wake the memory seat module again from a sleep mode, the switch must be activated .

3

Does the seat recline for approximately two seconds and stop in both forward and rearward directions?

--

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 7

4

    •  Disconnect the recline motor position sensor harness at the motor.
    •  Activate the seat in any direction.
    •  Measure the voltage from recline motor position sensor voltage reference circuit to a good ground.

Does the voltage measured near the specified value?

5 V

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 13

5

    • Activate the recline power seat switch in both forward and rearward directions.
    • Measure the voltage from the recline seat motor position sensor signal circuit, at the memory seat module, to a good ground.

Does the voltage measured near the specified value?

5 V

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 14

6

    • Activate the recline power seat switch in both forward and rearward directions.
    • Measure the voltage between the recline motor position sensor voltage reference and the recline motor position sensor low reference.

Does the voltage measured near the specified value?

5 V

Go to Step 18

Go to Step 15

7

    •  Back probe the power seat recline forward switch signal at the memory seat module, with a test lamp connected to a good ground.
    • Operate the power seat switch to move the seat in recline forward direction while observing the test lamp.

Did the test lamp illuminate?
