Removal Procedure
- Open the lift gate.
- Support the lift gate.
- Remove the roof rear header garnish molding. Refer to
Rear Upper Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, as needed.
- Disconnect the lift gate window washer fluid hose.
- Remove the lift gate struts. Refer to
Liftgate Strut Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts retaining the lift gate hinge to the body mounted hinge
locator.
- With an assistant, remove the lift gate.
Installation Procedure
- With an assistant, install the lift gate to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts that retain the lift gate to the body.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the lift gate struts. Refer to
Liftgate Strut Replacement
.
- Connect the washer fluid hose.
- Connect the electrical connectors, as needed.
- Install the roof rear header garnish molding. Refer to
Rear Upper Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior Trim.
