Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General information.
- Place a suitable container
under the transmission to catch the oil.
- Remove the oil fill plug.
- Remove the oil drain plug.
Installation Procedure
- Remove all of the existing
sealant from the oil drain plug.
- Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 to the treads
of the oil drain plug.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the oil
drain plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil drain plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Fill the transmission with the proper transmission fluid to the
bottom of the oil fill plug hole. Refer to
Lubrication Specifications
.
- Remove all of the existing sealant from the oil fill plug.
- Apply pipe sealant GM P/N 12346004 to the treads of
the oil fill plug.
- Install the oil fill plug.
Tighten
Tighten the oil drain plug to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).
- Lower the Vehicle.
