Attempt to operate all of the power seat functions.

Are all of the power seat functions inoperative?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the seat adjuster switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the seat adjuster switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Repair the battery voltage supply circuit to the seat adjuster switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 9

Repair the seat adjuster switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the power seat switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Using the seat adjuster switch attempt to operate the power seat in all directions.

Are all of the power seat adjuster motors inoperative?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the seat adjuster switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the seat adjuster switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Using a DMM test the resistance through the seat adjuster switch from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to a signal circuit terminal.
  2. Activate the switch function for the signal circuit being measured.

Does the adjuster switch have continuity?

Go to Step 8

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C3.
  2. Test the battery voltage supply circuit from the memory seat module to the seat adjuster switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did find and correct the condition?

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C1.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 13

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C1.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the memory seat module harness connector C1.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C2.
  2. Disconnect all of the hall effect type adjuster motor position sensors.
  3. Test the hall effect position sensor 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing
  4. and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the seat adjuster switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the battery voltage supply circuit to the memory seat module for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the memory seat module ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Observe the seat adjuster switch parameters in the memory seat module Inputs/Outputs data list.
  3. Operate the seat adjuster switches.

Does the scan tool display the correct switch status in relation to the actual switch positions?

  1. Disconnect the seat adjuster switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to the ground circuit terminal in the seat adjuster switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Using a DMM test the resistance through the seat adjuster switch from the battery voltage supply circuit terminal to a switch signal circuit terminal.
  2. Activate the switch function for the signal circuit being measured.

Does the adjuster switch have continuity?

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C2.
  2. Disconnect all of the hall effect type adjuster motor position sensors.
  3. Test the hall effect position sensor 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing
  4. and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C3.
  2. Test the battery voltage supply circuit from the memory seat module to the seat adjuster switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
