Condition

Some customers may comment that the adjustable foot pedals do not return to the pre-selected position and/or the heated seats are inoperative.

Scan tool diagnosis may reveal a DTC B3606 set.

Cause

The brake pedal position sensor may be the cause.

Correction

DO THIS

DON'T DO THIS

Inspect and replace the brake pedal position sensor, P/N 88982977.

DO NOT replace the brake pedal assembly, P/N 89040148, or other components.

  1. Inspect the date code on the brake pedal position sensor. The suspect brake pedal position sensor date codes are between 334-394.
  2. • If the brake pedal position sensor date code is NOT within the suspect codes, refer to the appropriate SI diagnostic information for the customer's concern.
    • If the date code is within the suspect date code, continue with the next step.
  3. Replace the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to the following information:
  4. • Full size trucks - Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (SI Document ID #885355)
    • Mid size utilities - Brake Pedal Position Sensor Replacement (SI Document ID #1335857)
  5. Verify that the repair is complete.
