The 1992 C/K Truck and Suburban/Blazer/Crew Cab Owner's Manuals refer customers to their dealer for assistance when trying to install a child seat with a top center strap facing rearward (tether).
Instructions for placement of the tether for both pickup, club cab, and crew cab models are contained in the 1992 C/K Service Manual. The information in this manual also applies to tether placement for 1988-92 C/K vehicles. Although the crew cab is not specifically mentioned on page 10A2-6, the tether locations on the panel are the same. The illustration on page 10A2-17 shows a typical anchor location. The service manual procedure was meant to assist the technician in properly locating the anchor point. The actual attaching hardware comes with the seat. There is currently no tether anchor hardware available, through GMSPO, for any of the C/K product line.
Suburban models are equipped with cargo tie down anchors in rear most cargo area that can also be used as a tether anchor for a child seat. This requires the child seat to be placed in the most rearward vehicle seat (Figure 1).
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
