1992 C/K vehicles equipped with a center roof console (RPO DK6) have a built in compartment for storing a garage door opener.
Instructions for installing the garage door opener were inadvertently left out of early 1992 C/K owner's manuals. A copy of those instructions are duplicated here for your reference.
1. Open the storage compartment door by pressing the latch forward (Figure 1).
2. Peel the protective backing from the hook and loop patch. Press it firmly to the back of the garage door opener, as close to the center of the opener as possible (Figure 2).
3. Center the garage door opener activation button over the console door button and press the opener firmly into place (Figures 3 and 4).
4. Use the pegs inside the compartment door to make sure the button on the compartment door will contact the control button on the garage door opener. Add one peg at a time until the garage door opener operates with the compartment door closed (Figure 4, 5 and 6).
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
