SERVICE PROCEDURE
WHILE POSITIONED ON THE FLOOR OF THE PASSENGER'S SIDE, LOOK UP UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WITH THE AID OF A FLASH LIGHT, OBSERVE THE LABEL ON THE AIR INLET ACTUATOR (FIGURE 1). IF THE CORRECT PART NUMBER AND LETTER CODE ARE OBSERVED, DIAGNOSE THE CONDITION USING THE APPROPRIATE 1995 SERVICE MANUAL. IF THE ACTUATOR IS INCORRECT, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
1 USE A LONG HANDLED SMALL FLAT SCREW DRIVER TO DISCONNECT THE WIRING CONNECTOR FROM THE ACTUATOR. 2 USE A 1/4" DRIVE RATCHET WITH A 6" LONG HANDLE AND A 5.5MM 6 POINT SOCKET TO REMOVE THE TWO SCREWS SECURING THE ACTUATOR TO THE CASE. 3 REMOVE THE ACTUATOR. 4 MANUALLY REPOSITION THE AIR INLET VALVE SHAFT SO THAT THE TWO FLATS ARE VERTICAL. 5 INSTALL THE CORRECT ACTUATOR. 6 PLACE A SMALL PIECE OF THUMB GRADE SEALANT (DUM-DUM) IN THE SOCKET TO HOLD THE SCREWS FOR REINSTALLATION (DROPPING THE SOCKET MAY REQUIRE I/P REMOVAL TO RETRIEVE). INSTALL THE TWO SCREWS. 7 RECONNECT THE WIRING CONNECTOR TO THE ACTUATOR, LISTENING FOR A "CLICK" SOUND INDICATING IT HAS LOCKED IN PLACE.
