DEFINITION: Battery indicator does not light with the ignition switch in RUN position and engine stopped.

  1. Disconnect the generator connector.
  2. Place the ignintion switch in RUN position.
  3. Connect the fused jumper from BRN (25) wire at the generator connector to ground.

Does the battery indicator light?

Backprobe the BRN (25) wire at I/P Cluster with a fused jumper to ground.

Does the battery indicator light?

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
  2. Connect a voltmeter from PNK (39) terminal 22 at the instrument cluster connector to ground.

Does battery voltage exist?

Go to Step 6

Repair the generator.

Is the repair complete?

Locate and repair the open in BRN (25) wire between the instrument cluster and generator.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

  1. Check the charge indicator lamp for an open filament.
  2. Replace the instrument cluster, if the indicator lamp is okay.

Is the replacement complete?

Locate and repair the open in PNK (39) wire form the instrument fuse block to the instrument cluster.
