Piston and Connecting Rod Disassemble for Chevrolet Chevy Suburban - 4WD 1998

Tools Required

J 24086-C Piston Pin Remover and Installer


    Object Number: 4967 Size: SH
  1. Remove the piston rings from the pistons.

    2. Object Number: 4965 Size: SH
  2. Press the pin from the connecting rod by using J 24086-C .

    3. The piston pin has an interference fit into the connecting rod and is full floating in the piston.


    Object Number: 34671 Size: SH

    Notice: Do not shim, scrape, or file bearing inserts. Do not touch the bearing surface of the insert with bare fingers. Skin oil and acids will etch the bearing surface.

  3. If the bearings will be reused, place the bearings in a rack in order to ensure reinstallation with the original connecting rod and the cap.
