Operate the heated seat system.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Disconnect the body to power seat inline harness connector.
  3. Connect a DMM from the heated seat switch signal circuit terminal in the body harness connector half to ground.
  4. Measure the voltage while activating the heated seat switch in the high and low modes.

Is the measured voltage within the specified value while the switch is activated in the high and low modes?

10-14 V

Connect a test lamp from the battery voltage supply circuit 2340 terminal in the body harness connector half to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from battery voltage to the ground circuit terminal in the body harness connector half.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the heated seat switch connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the ignition voltage supply circuit terminal in the harness connector to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp from battery voltage to the ground circuit terminal in the heated seat switch harness connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the heated seat switch signal circuit for a open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the power seat harness to seat cushion heater element assembly 3 way connector.
  2. Test the following circuits in the power seat harness for an open or short to ground:
  3. • Battery voltage supply circuit 2340
    • Heated seat switch signal circuit
    • Heated seat ground circuit

Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the seat back heater element connector.
  2. Measure the resistance through the seat back heater element.

Is the resistance within the specified values?

0.5-2.0 ohms

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the heated seat switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
