The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

You may experience a sunroof that is inoperative after performing service on the vehicle that required disconnecting the battery or positive battery voltage to the sunroof module.

Recommendation/Instructions:

After performing a repair procedure that requires disconnecting the battery or the positive battery voltage to the sunroof module, the sunroof module must be resynchronized. A procedure is available that allows the module to relearn full travel of the sunroof. Failure to perform this procedure could result in customer complaints of an inoperative sunroof, and could possibly lead to mis-diagnosis and replacement of the sunroof motor. The sunroof motor resynchronization procedure is available in SI under document ID number 627599, and is referenced off of document ID number 662841, power sunroof description and operation.

Please note that the sunroof must be moved to the vent position first regardless of what position it was in when the voltage was disconnected. Do not move the glass to the open position until after the synchronization procedure.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
