When diagnosing low oil pressure concerns, verify the oil pressure reading.
A reading may indicate low although the oil level is full. If the crankcase
is overfilled with as little as 0.95L (1 qt) of oil, aeration may occur.
Driving the vehicle for an extended period of time with aerated oil could
cause internal engine damage.
Verify that the vehicle crankcase is not overfilled before attempting
other repairs. Wait at least 15 minutes after turning the engine off before
verifying the oil level. Be sure that the oil level indicator is fully seated
in the tube when verifying the oil level. The Owner's Manual shows the correct
crankcase capacity of 6.1L (6.5 qts) with the oil filter.
Also, the engine oil level indicator was changed in production. The
change is to meet international language requirements. All writing and two
of the holes in the operating range have been removed from the indicator.
The illustrations below show the first and second design indicators and the
proper operating range.
