Grille Replacement Cadillac
Removal Procedure
- For diesel only, remove the winter cover, if equipped and installed.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the push-pin retainers from the upper grille baffle.
- Remove the upper grille baffle from the vehicle.
- Remove the grille retaining
screw (1).
- Pull on the top corners of the grille in order to release the
retaining clips (2) from the mounting surface.
- Rotate the top part of the grille slightly in order to release
the lower tabs. Lift the grille from the belt loops.
- Remove the grille from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Insert the grille lower
tabs into the belt loops in the lamp support bracket.
- Press in the retaining clips (2) in order to secure the
grille to the lamp support bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the grille
retainer screw (1).
Tighten
Tighten the grille retainer screw to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the upper grille baffle to the vehicle.
- Install the push-pin retainers.
- For diesel only, install the winter cover, if removed.
- Close the hood.
Grille Replacement Avalanche
Removal Procedure
- For diesel only, remove the winter cover, if equipped and installed.
- Open the hood.
- Remove the push-pin retainers (1) from the radiator support.
- Pull in order to release the radiator grille from the support
reinforcement.
- Pull at each location
in order to release the retainer clips of the grille ends from the fender.
Remove the grille from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the grille to the
grille support and the fenders.
- Press the grille ends in order to secure the grille to the fender.
- Align the radiator grille
to the support reinforcement.
- Install the push pin retainers (1) to the radiator support.
- Close the hood.
- Inspect the grille for proper alignment.
- For diesel only, install the winter cover, if removed.
Grille Replacement Chevrolet
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper grille baffle.
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, rotate the grille
retainer ¼ turn counterclockwise.
- Remove the screw holding the grille to the latch
support.
- Unsnap the grille ends from the fender. Remove
the grille from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Snap the grille ends into the fender.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the screw holding the grille to the latch
support.
Tighten
Tighten the grille screw to 9 N·m (75 lb in).
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, rotate the grille
retainer ¼ turn clockwise.
- Install the upper grille baffle.
- Close the hood.
- Inspect for proper alignment.
Grille Replacement GMC
Removal Procedure
- Open the hood.
- Remove the upper grille baffle.
- Using a Phillips screw driver, rotate the grille retainer ¼ turn counterclockwise.
- Remove the screw holding the grille to the latch support.
- Release the grille end from the fender. Remove the grille from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Press the grille ends into the fender.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the screw holding the grille to the latch support.
Tighten
Tighten the grille screw to 9 N·m (75 lb in).
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, rotate the grille retainer ¼ turn clockwise.
- Install the upper grille baffle.
- Close the hood.
- Inspect for proper alignment.
