Exhaust Hanger Mounting Bracket Replacement 6.0L and 8.1L Engines
Removal Procedure
- Remove the exhaust manifold
pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement
.
- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- If equipped with a 4L80E transmission, remove the exhaust pipe
hanger bracket bolts.
- If equipped with a 4L60E transmission,
remove the exhaust pipe hanger bracket bolts.
- Remove the exhaust manifold pipe bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust manifold pipe hanger
bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- If equipped with a 4L60E transmission, install the exhaust pipe
hanger bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- If equipped with a 4L80E
transmission, install the exhaust pipe hanger bracket bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the catalytic converter. Refer to
Catalytic Converter Replacement
.
- Install the exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to
Exhaust Manifold Pipe Replacement
.
