A POWER STEERING SHUDDER ON 1981 OMEGA'S MAY BE ENCOUNTERED WHEN THE STEERING GEAR IS NEAR THE END OF ITS TRAVEL AT EITHER THE RIGHT OR LEFT STOP; SUCH AS STATIONARY PARKING MANEUVERS. CORRECTION: A NEW RETURN POWER STEERING HOSE KIT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED TO CORRECT STEERING SHUDDER. PART NUMBER 7841445 IS FOR THE 2.5L L-4 ENGINE AND PART NUMBER 7841446 IS FOR THE 2.8L V-6 ENGINE. PROCEDURE: 1.DISCONNECT RETURN PIPE AT STEERING GEAR. 2.DISCONNECT RETURN HOSE AT POWER STEERING PUMP RETURN PIPE AND DISCARD PIPE AND HOSE. 3.INSTALL NEW RETURN HOSE AT STEERING GEAR AND TORQUE FITTING TO 27 N.M(20 FT. LBS.). 4.INSTALL NEW HOSE ON POWER STEERING PUMP PIPE AS SHOWN IN FIG. 1 AND 2. NOTE THE ILLUSTRATIONS VIEW A TO ASSURE PROPER DIMENSION. ON V6 ENGINE INSTALL A PLASTIC TIE STRAP AS SHOWN IN FIG. 2. 5.FILL AND BLEED SYSTEM. REFER TO THE BLEEDING POWER STEERING SYSTEM IN THE 1981 OMEGA SERVICE MANUAL SECTION 3B2.
