DETONATION/ENGINE TIMING TIMING SPECIFICATIONS

Model and Year: 1983 CELEBRITY

Some 1983 Celebritys with 2.8L V6 engines may exhibit engine detonation. On vehicles not repaired to the procedure outlined in the shop manual, retarding the base engine timing 4 DEG is permissible. Base engine timing is now 10 DEG BTDC, recommended base timing for cars with detonation is 60 BTDC. This change will alleviate the detonation problem.
