A NUMBER OF VEHICLES WERE BUILT AT GMAD WILLOW RUN WITHOUT A LOW SIDE CHARGING PORT ON THE ACCUMULATOR-DEHYDRATOR. THIS PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED WITH THE FOLLOWING V.I. NUMBERS: CHEVROLET V-6 ENGINE 1G1XX68X4FW100387 BUICK V-6 ENGINE 1G4XB69X5FW401444 CHEVROLET L-4 ENGINE 1G1XX68R2FW100759 BUICK L-4 ENGINE 1G4XL69R5FW402978 TO CHARGE A SYSTEM WITHOUT A LOW SIDE CHARGING PORT, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE AS OUTLINED: 1. ENGINE OFF, DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR FROM PRESSURE SWITCH. REMOVE PRESSURE SWITCH, EVACUATE AND CHARGE THROUGH PRESSURE SWITCH SCHRADER VALVE FITTING PER SERVICE MANUAL PROCEDURE. 2. IF SYSTEM CANNOT BE FULLY CHARGED WITH ENGINE OFF, START ENGINE AND USE COMPRESSOR TO ASSIST CHARGING PROCESS. ATTACH A FUSED JUMPER WIRE FROM COMPRESSOR HOT LEAD TO POSITIVE (+) BATTERY POST TO START COMPRESSOR. 3. ONCE THE CHARGING PROCESS IS COMPLETE, DISCONNECT JUMPER AND RECONNECT PRESSURE SWITCH AND CONNECTOR.
