J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front door trim panel insert from the door. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement .
  2. Remove the front door handle bezel. Refer to Door Handle Bezel Replacement .
  3. Remove the power accessory switch panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
  4. Use a flat bladed tool in order to remove the inside door pull handle plug.
  5. Remove the door trim panel screws from under the inside pull handle.

  7. Remove the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  8. Using J 38778 and starting at the door bottom, disengage the door trim panel retainers.
  9. Lift up on the door trim panel to disengage it from the inner belt molding.
  10. Remove the door trim panel from the door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the door trim panel on the inner belt molding and press down.

  2. Object Number: 747994  Size: SH
  3. Install the front door trim panel to the door, pressing into place until the retainers are fully seated.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the door trim panel screws to the door trim panel.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.8 N·m (16 lb in).

  7. Install the window regulator handle, if equipped. Refer to Door Window Regulator Handle Replacement .
  8. Install the inside door pull handle plug to the door trim panel, pressing until fully seated.
  9. Install the inside door handle bezel to the door trim panel. Refer to Door Handle Bezel Replacement .
  10. Install the power accessory switch panel to the door trim panel. Refer to Power Accessory Switch Panel Replacement .
  11. Install the front door trim panel insert to the door. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Insert Replacement .
