Verify that the driver power door lock is inoperative.

Does the driver power door lock operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Verify that only the driver power door lock is inoperative.

Do you have additional symptoms?

Is the vehicle equipped with Keyless Entry?

Go to Step 5

  1. Remove the driver door unlock relay.
  2. Probe the driver door unlock control circuit, at the LH instrument panel (I/P) junction block, with a test lamp connected to ground, while commanding the door locks to unlock from a door lock switch.

Did the test lamp flash or stay illuminated?

Go to Step 6

Did the test lamp stay illuminated?

Go to Step 7

Test the driver door unlock control circuit for a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Test the driver door unlock control circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

  1. Reconnect the driver door unlock relay if it was disconnected.
  2. Disconnect the driver door lock actuator.
  3. Probe the driver door lock actuator unlock and lock circuits, one at a time, with a test lamp connected to ground, while commanding the door locks to lock and unlock from a door lock switch.

Did the test lamp flash, for the appropriate circuit, when the door locks were commanded to lock and unlock?

Test the driver door lock actuator lock and unlock circuits for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the body control module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the driver door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the LH I/P junction block. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Replace the driver door unlock relay if the vehicle is equipped with the Keyless Entry System.
  2. Replace the LH I/P junction block if the vehicle is not equipped with the Keyless Entry System.

Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement .
