The brake fluid level switch monitors the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder. When the electronic brake control module (EBCM) sees the brake fluid level switch input grounded, it sends a serial data message to the body control module (BCM). The BCM sends a message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) via the serial peripheral interface (SPI) requesting illumination of the red brake indicator.
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC C0267 Low Brake Fluid Indicated
The ignition is ON.
Low brake fluid is detected for 2 seconds.
The red Brake warning indicator turns ON.
• | The condition for the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with a scan tool. |
• | The electronic brake control module (EBCM) automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles. |
Inspect the master cylinder reservoir for the proper brake fluid level.
