Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 291462  Size: SH
  3. Remove the outer trim covers (1,3) from the Instrument Panel (I/P) carrier (2).

  4. Object Number: 743456  Size: SH
  5. Loosen the outboard junction block electrical connector bolt. Disengage the outboard junction block electrical connector tabs from I/P fuse block. Left side shown, right side similar.

  6. Object Number: 757357  Size: SH
  7. For the driver side only:
  8. 4.1. Remove the left half of the sound insulator from the I/P carrier and disengage the wire harness from the cross vehicle beam.
    4.2. Disengage the I/P fuse block tabs from the cross vehicle beam.
    4.3. Pull the I/P fuse block away from the I/P carrier.
    4.4. Loosen the inboard junction block electrical connector bolts. Disengage the junction block electrical connector tabs from the I/P fuse block.
    4.5. Note where the fuses and relays are located and remove if required.

  9. For the passenger side only:
  10. 5.1. Remove the I/P storage compartment from the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
    5.2. Through the opening in the I/P storage compartment, loosen the inboard junction block electrical connector bolts. Disengage the inboard junction block electrical connectors tabs from the I/P fuse block.
    5.3. Disengage the IP fuse block from the cross vehicle beam and remove the passenger side fuse block from the I/P carrier.
    5.4. Note where the fuses and relays are located and remove if required.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install fuses and relays to the fuse block if required.

  2. Object Number: 757358  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. For passenger side only:
  4. 2.1. Place the fuse block through the I/P carrier.
    2.2. Through the opening in the I/P storage compartment connect the inboard junction block electrical connectors to the I/P fuse block.
    2.3. Engage the inboard junction block electrical connectors to the I/P fuse block until the connector tabs are fully seated.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

    2.4. Install the I/P storage compartment to the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .

  5. On the drivers side only:
  6. 3.1. Connect the inboard junction block electrical connectors to the I/P fuse block.
    3.2. Engage the inboard junction block electrical connectors to the I/P fuse block until the connector tabs are fully seated.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

    3.3. Engage the I/P fuse block to the cross vehicle beam.
    3.4. Engage the wire harness to the cross vehicle beam and install the left halve of the sound insulator to the I/P carrier.

  7. Install the outboard junction block electrical connector to the I/P fuse block. Left side shown, right side similar.
  8. Engage the outboard junction block electrical connector to the I/P fuse block until connector tabs are fully seated.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 2.3 N·m (20 lb in).

  10. Install the outer trim covers (1,3) to the I/P carrier (2).
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
