Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Engine Compartment Fuel Pipes
Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
- Disconnect the engine fuel pipes from the engine fuel flex hoses. Refer
to
Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Remove the engine fuel pipes fasteners located on the engine.
- Use a backup wrench and disconnect the engine fuel pipes from the fuel
rail.
- Remove the engine fuel pipes.
- Remove the O-rings (2) from the fuel rail and pipes connections.
- Separate the bundle if replacing a single pipe.
Installation Procedure
- Assemble the fuel pipe bundle.
- Install new O-rings (2) to the fuel rail and pipes connections.
- Connect the engine fuel pipes to the fuel rail.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the engine fuel pipes fasteners located on the engine.
Tighten
Tighten the fuel bundle fasteners to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Secure the fuel bundle to the fuel rail.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the engine fuel pipes to the engine fuel flex hoses.
- Pull back on fuel lines to ensure they are properly connected.
- Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
in Engine Electrical.
- Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
9.1. | Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds. |
9.2. | Inspect for fuel leaks. |
