Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Scribe the strut to the knuckle. Refer to
Strut and Knuckle Scribing
in Front Suspension.
- Remove the strut mount to body
nut (1) in the trunk area.
- Remove the strut bolts (3) from inside the fender well.
- Remove
the strut knuckle bolts (5) and nuts (3) from the strut (1).
- Remove the strut (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install
the strut (1) to the vehicle.
- Loosely install the strut to knuckle bolts (5) and nuts (3).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Align the scribe marks in order to ensure
proper alignment.
- Install the strut to body bolts (3) inside the fender well.
Tighten
• | Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the strut to knuckle nuts to 120 N·m (89 lb ft). |
- Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the strut to body nut (1) in the trunk area.
Tighten
Tighten the nut (1) to 25 N·m
(18 lb ft).
- Check the wheel alignment. Refer to
Wheel Alignment Measurement
in Wheel Alignment.
