J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 588318  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolt from the compressor hose assembly to the condenser.
  4. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the condenser.

  5. Object Number: 590055  Size: SH
  6. Remove the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
  7. Remove the radiator assembly. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  8. Object Number: 292751  Size: SH
  9. Remove the condenser (2) from the radiator (1).

Installation Procedure

    Important: If replacing the condenser, add the refrigerant oil to the condenser. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities for system capacity information.

  1. Position the condenser (2) to the radiator (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the condenser mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Install the radiator assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  7. Install the compressor hose assembly to the condenser block.
  8. Install the compressor hose to condenser block fitting nut.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m(18 lb ft).

  10. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser .
  11. Install the evaporator hose to condenser bolt.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m(18 lb ft).

  13. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  14. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  15. Leak test the fittings and the components replaced using the J 39400-A .
