Removal Procedure

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  1. Open and support the hood.
  2. Install a protective covering over the fenders.
  3. Remove the hood insulator, if equipped. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  4. Mark the upper hood hinge location to the hood with a grease pencil.
  5. With an assistant, remove the hood hinge to hood bolts.
  6. With an assistant, remove the hood.

Installation Procedure

  1. With an assistant, position the hood to the hinges.
  2. Align the hood hinges to the alignment marks on the hood.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the bolts that secure the hinge to the hood.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Install the hood insulator, if equipped. Refer to Hood Insulator Replacement .
  7. Adjust the hood. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  8. Remove the protective covering from the fenders.
  9. Remove the support and close the hood.
