Subject: | SCIP Voltage on Tech 2 is Half of SCIP Signal Circuit Voltage with a DVOM |
Models: | 2005-2006 Cobalt SS |
2004-2006 Saturn Ion Redline |
with 2.0L Engine (VIN P - RPO LSJ) |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
If the SI diagnostics are not followed correctly while diagnosing a SCIP (Supercharger Inlet Pressure) sensor concern, it may be noticed that the SCIP sensor voltage parameter on the Tech 2 is about half of the actual SCIP sensor signal circuit voltage if measured with a DVOM (Digital Volt Ohmmeter). For example, the SCIP voltage parameter on the Tech 2 is normally around 2.3 - 2.4 Volts at sea level while in the KOEO position but if the SCIP signal circuit (# 432) is measured with a DVOM, the actual voltage is around 4.6 - 4.8 Volts.
If this concern is encountered, do not replace the PCM in an attempt to make the Tech 2 voltage match the DVOM voltage. Due to conflicts between hardware and software, this should be considered normal Tech 2 operation.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
