Removal Procedure
- Place the steering wheel in the straight forward position.
- Remove the steering column filler. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement.
- Remove the steering column upper support bracket bolts.
- Support the lower portion of the steering column as necessary.
- Remove the steering column jacket bolts and remove the steering column jacket from the steering column.
Installation Procedure
Important: The steering column shaft splines must be free of dirt and debris.
- Clean the steering column shaft splines.
- Apply 2 grams (0.07 oz) of the supplied grease to the steering column shaft splines.
- Position the new steering column jacket on the steering column.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the steering column bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the steering column upper support bracket bolts.
Tighten
- Tighten the right side steering column upper support bracket bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Tighten the left side steering column upper support bracket bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the ignition lock cylinder case. Refer to
Ignition Lock Cylinder Case Replacement.
- Install the steering column filler. Refer to
Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
