Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1717515  Size: SH
  1. Remove the charge air bypass tank. Refer to Charge Air Bypass Valve Vacuum Tank Replacement
  2. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the front knock sensor, if required.

  3. Object Number: 1825527  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) from the rear knock sensor, if required.

  5. Object Number: 1717513  Size: SH
  6. Remove the front knock sensor clip (1) from the oil level indicator tube, if required.
  7. Remove the rear knock sensor clip (2) from the intake manifold brace, if required.

  8. Object Number: 1769811  Size: SH
  9. Loosen the appropriate knock bolt.
  10. Remove the appropriate knock sensor.

Installation Procedure

Important: Rotate the pigtail 90 degrees from vertical before securing the fastener.

  1. Position the appropriate knock sensor to the engine block.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Tighten the appropriate knock bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the front knock sensor clip (1) to the oil level indicator tube, if required.
  6. Install the rear knock sensor clip (2) to the intake manifold brace, if required.

  7. Object Number: 1825527  Size: SH
  8. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the rear knock sensor.

  9. Object Number: 1717515  Size: SH
  10. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connector (2) to the front knock sensor.
  11. Install the charge air bypass tank. Refer to Charge Air Bypass Valve Vacuum Tank Replacement
