Clutch Pressure and Driven Plate Replacement M86

J 43482 Clutch Alignment Arbor

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 100727  Size: SH
  3. Remove the clutch cover bolts one turn at a time, until spring pressure is relieved.

  4. Object Number: 100733  Size: SH
  5. Remove the clutch cover and the clutch disc.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 100733  Size: SH
  1. Align the machined side of the flywheel assembly, with the machined side of the cover.

  2. Object Number: 892789  Size: SH
  3. Install the J 43482 in order to support the clutch cover to the flywheel assembly.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 100744  Size: SH
  5. Install the clutch cover to flywheel bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Follow the tightening sequence. Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Remove the J 43482 .
  8. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  9. Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 100727  Size: SH
  3. Remove the clutch cover bolts one turn at a time, until spring pressure is relieved.

  4. Object Number: 100733  Size: SH
  5. Remove the clutch cover and the clutch disc.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 100733  Size: SH
  1. Install the clutch disc and the clutch cover.
  2. Hand start the clutch cover to flywheel bolts, leaving the clutch cover loose enough to reposition for alignment.

  3. Object Number: 892789  Size: SH
  4. Install the J 43482 in order to support the clutch cover to the flywheel assembly.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 100744  Size: SH
  6. Tighten the clutch cover to flywheel bolts in the sequence shown.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Recheck each bolt torque using the tightening sequence.
  9. Remove the J 43482 .
  10. Install the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  11. Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable.
