Preliminary Procedures

  1. Using a J 25070 or equivalent, in a circular motion, heat and remove the old emblem/nameplate from the rear compartment lid.
  2. Remove the adhesive residue as follows:
  3. • For metal body panels use a 3M Scotch Brite® molding adhesive remover disc, 3M P/N 07502 or equivalent.
    • For plastic panels use a lint-free cloth with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) Naptha or a 50/50 mixture, by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water to remove left over adhesive residue.
  4. For the final preparation prior to application of the new emblem/nameplate. Refer to Graphics/Decals/Emblems.

Rear Compartment Lid Emblem

Procedure

  1. The rear compartment lid nameplate is attached with adhesive tape, use J 25070 or equivalent to aid in removal.
  2. Using a mixture 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water, clean the area where the emblem will be placed.
  3. Clean the area using a dry lint-free towel.
  4. Measure and mark a distance of (a).75 in (19 mm) from the top side of the rear compartment lid body line.
  5. Measure and mark a distance of (b) 1.0 in (25 mm) inward from the rear compartment lid edge.
  6. Position the emblem to the rear compartment lid.
  7. Close the rear compartment lid.
  8. Using a clean dry towel, wipe over the emblem to ensure full adhesion is made to the rear compartment lid.

  2. Using a mixture 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water, clean the area where the emblem will be placed.
  3. Clean the area using a dry lint-free towel.
  4. Measure and mark a distance of (a) 1.0 in (25 mm) from the outer edge of the rear compartment lid.
  5. Measure and mark a distance of (b).45 in (11.5 mm) upward from the bottom edge of the rear compartment lid.
  6. Close the rear compartment lid.
  7. Position the emblem to the rear compartment lid.
  8. Using a clean dry towel, wipe over the emblem to ensure full adhesion is made to the rear compartment lid.

  5. Measure and mark a distance of (b).57 in (14.5 mm) upward from the bottom edge of the rear compartment lid body line.
  6. Close the rear compartment lid.
  7. Position the emblem to the rear compartment lid.
  8. Using a clean dry towel, wipe over the emblem to ensure full adhesion is made to the rear compartment lid.
