This PI was superseded to add revision to contact engineering for vehicles close to Detroit or Windsor. Please discard PIP4314A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The above mentioned vehicles may have a concern of a TCC surge or chuggle.
Contact Bob Martin (Cell 248-672-9111) after confirming the condition but PRIOR to any repair attempts. A TCM snapshot can be emailed to robert.martiniii@gm.com. Engineers are interested in any 2007 or 2008 Chev Cobalt or Pontiac G5 with this highway surge conditon, and NO DTC's
Reset the transmission adapts and retest. If this corrects corrects the concern advise customer engineering is aware of the concern and is working on it. Release the vehicle to the customer advising them that if the concern reoccurs to return to the dealer. If the vehicle returns use the contact information above to obtain further instructions.
If resetting the transmission adapts does not correct the concern perform the following. Before disassembling the transmission to correct the concern, swap a TCM from a known good vehicle and retest.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
