Subject: | Trunk Release and/or Fog Lamps Inoperative |
Models: | 2007-2008 Chevrolet Cobalt |
2007-2008 Pontiac G5 |
This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIC4529.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
A condition has been identified that can cause the trunk release and/or fog lamps to become inoperative. This condition normally occurs "after" dash repairs of some kind have been made. The fog light switch connector and the trunk release switch connector could be reversed when putting the dash pieces back together. This will cause an inoperative condition for BOTH the trunk release and fog lights WITHOUT blowing any fuses.
It is recommended that you inspect the wiring connectors. The black connector is for the fog lamp switch and the white connector is for the trunk switch.
Note: Not all vehicles have fog lights but all vehicles will still have the connector for the fog light switch.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
