J 45059 Angle Meter

    Object Number: 412440  Size: SH
  1. Install the upper crankshaft bearings and lubricate bearing surfaces with engine oil.

  2. Object Number: 412438  Size: SH
  3. Install the crankshaft on the journals.

  4. Object Number: 412444  Size: SH
  5. Install the lower bearing halves, without grooves, into the lower crankcase. Apply oil to bearing surfaces.

  6. Object Number: 412491  Size: SH
  7. Apply sealer GM P/N 12378521 (Canadian P/N 88901148) to the surfaces of the engine block to bedplate mating surfaces.

  8. Object Number: 412435  Size: SH
  9. Install the lower crankcase. Tap gently into place with a suitable tool, if necessary. Ensure the lower crankcase is aligned properly on the dowels.
  10. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 466499  Size: SH
  11. Install the NEW crankshaft bearing bolts in sequence finger tight.
  12. 6.1. Tighten the crankshaft bearing bolts in sequence to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
    6.2. Using the J 45059 meter , tighten the crankshaft bearing bolts in sequence to 77 degrees.

    Note: Do not forget the 2 rear outer bolts.

  13. Install the lower crankcase perimeter bolts. Tighten the lower crankcase perimeter bolts in sequence to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
