Front Brake Hose Replacement With RPO LNF

Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  3. Object Number: 1989058  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  5. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.


    Object Number: 1989059  Size: SH
  6. Remove the front brake hose bracket bolt (1).

  7. Object Number: 1989060  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake hose fitting bolt (1).
  9. Remove the brake hose fitting gaskets (2) from the brake hose (3).
  10. Discard the brake hose fitting gaskets.

  11. Remove the brake hose.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1989060  Size: SH
  1. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) with 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the brake hose assembly to the caliper.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brake hose fitting bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  5. Install the front brake hose bracket bolt (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1989058  Size: SH
  7. Connect the front brake pipe fitting (1).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).

  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

Preliminary Procedure

Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

Brake Pipe Fitting

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Cap or plug the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
  2. After the installation is complete, bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.

Tighten
19 N·m (14 lb ft)

Brake Hose Bracket Bolt

Tighten
25 N·m (35 lb ft)

Brake Hose

Tip
The brake hose bracket and retaining clip are replaced as an assembly with the brake hose.

Brake Hose Fitting Bolt

Tighten
48 N·m (35 lb ft)

Brake Hose Gasket (Qty: 2)

Procedure

  1. Discard the brake hose gaskets.
  2. During assembly, install new brake hose gaskets.
