Preliminary Procedures

  1. Using a J 25070 or equivalent, in a circular motion, heat and remove the old emblem/nameplate from the rear compartment lid.
  2. Remove the adhesive residue as follows:
  3. • For metal body panels use a 3M Scotch Brite® molding adhesive remover disc, 3M P/N 07502 or equivalent.
    • For plastic panels use a lint-free cloth with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) Naptha or a 50/50 mixture, by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water to remove left over adhesive residue.
  4. For the final preparation prior to application of the new emblem/nameplate. Refer to Graphics/Decals/Emblems.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Using a J 25070 or equivalent, in a circular motion, heat and remove the old emblem/nameplate from the rear compartment lid.
  2. Remove the adhesive residue as follows:
  3. • For metal body panels use a 3M Scotch Brite® molding adhesive remover disc, 3M P/N 07502 or equivalent.
    • For plastic panels use a lint-free cloth with Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) Naptha or a 50/50 mixture, by volume of isopropyl alcohol and clean drinkable water to remove left over adhesive residue.
  4. For the final preparation prior to application of the new emblem/nameplate. Refer to Graphics/Decals/Emblems.

Rear Compartment Lid Emblem/Nameplate (XFE)

Procedure

  1. Measure a distance from the rear compartment lid edge inward (a) 25 mm (.98 in) and mark a line with a wax pencil or small piece of masking tape.
  2. Measure a distance from the rear compartment body line upward (b) 14.5 mm (.57 in) and mark a line with a wax pencil or small piece of masking tape.
  3. Completely close the rear compartment lid.
  4. Peel off the adhesive backing from the emblem.
  5. Apply the emblem at the specified measurements as noted.
  6. Apply palm pressure using a lint-free dry cotton towel to ensure the emblem has secured to the rear compartment lid.
  7. Allow at least 1 hour dry time below 70°F (21.1°C) for the emblem adhesion.

  2. Measure a distance from the rear compartment lid bottom edge upward (b) 11.5 mm (.45 in) and mark a line with a wax pencil or small piece of masking tape.
  3. Completely close the rear compartment lid.
  4. Peel off the adhesive backing from the emblem.
  5. Apply the emblem at the specified measurements as noted.
  6. Apply palm pressure using a lint-free dry cotton towel to ensure the emblem has secured to the rear compartment lid.
  7. Allow at least 1 hour dry time below 70°F (21.1°C) for the emblem adhesion.

  2. Measure a distance from the rear compartment lid side edge inward (b) 25 mm (.98 in) and mark a line with a wax pencil or small piece of masking tape.
  3. Completely close the rear compartment lid.
  4. Peel off the adhesive backing from the emblem.
  5. Apply the emblem at the specified measurements as noted.
  6. Apply palm pressure using a lint-free dry cotton towel to ensure the emblem has secured to the rear compartment lid.
