The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
CF5 Sunroof option unique features
This sunroof is manufactured by Webasto. It is an electric sliding glass type unit. When opening, the glass moves rearward and slides above the roof. What makes this sunroof unique is that it is upfitted after the vehicle is fully assembled. This includes the cutting of the roof panel and headliner. The power is supplied by fuse #80 in the UBEC and the ground is a direct connection to G303 in the roof panel. Fuse #80 supplies power to circuit 343 (yellow wire) that is part of the factory harness to the A-pillar. At the A-pillar, there is a connection to circuit 43 (red wire) to the sunroof. Refer to SI document 1478091 for the power sunroof schematic. Removing the A-pillar trim will allow access to the connection between the red wire circuit 43 from the sunroof and the yellow wire circuit 343 from the UBEC. The other unique item is that the sunroof assembly does not have water management drain hose that runs down the inside pillars. This roof is sealed to prevent water from traveling past the glass panel seal. Every vehicle equipped with a CF5 option is water tested at the upfitter prior to shipment. If a water leak is noticed in the vehicle, begin water testing the vehicle from the bottom of the body up to the roof area. To eliminate the sunroof as a source, use two inch wide masking tape over the entire perimeter of the sunroof. Please refer to bulletin 07-08-67-001 for additional information.
Note: Because the roof is installed by an upfitter, Webasto technical support at 800-995-5911 DOES NOT support this roof. The 800-995-5911 number only supports roofs installed at the assembly plant. For technical support on this roof, it will be necessary to call Webasto at 810-593-6000.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
