Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1764574 Size: SH
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
  2. Remove the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
  3. Remove the following electrical connectors from the camshaft cover.
    4. • The fuel injector (1)
    • The heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (2)
    • The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (3)

  4. Remove the camshaft cover ground wire bolt (1) from the cover.
  5. Remove the ground wire from cover.

    6. Object Number: 1764492 Size: SH
  6. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  7. Remove the camshaft cover from the cylinder head.
  8. Remove the seals from the camshaft cover.

    9. Do not reuse the seals.

  9. Clean and inspect the cylinder head sealing surface.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1764492 Size: SH
  1. Install a NEW camshaft cover seal into the camshaft cover groove.
  2. Install NEW ignition coil seals into the camshaft cover grooves.
  3. Place the camshaft cover onto the cylinder head.

    4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the camshaft cover bolts and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    5. Object Number: 1764580 Size: SH
  5. Position the ground wire to the camshaft cover. Ensure that the anti rotation tab is seated against the cover.
  6. Install the camshaft cover ground wire bolt (1) to the cover and tighten to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    7. Object Number: 1764574 Size: SH
  7. Install the following electrical connectors to the camshaft cover.
    8. • The fuel injector (1)
    • The HO2S (2)
    • The ECT sensor (3)
  8. Install the ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement.
  9. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
