Subject:HVAC Temperature Control Inoperative

Models:2004-2005 Chevrolet Colorado Pick Up
2004-2005 GMC Canyon Pick Up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

HVAC temperature control inoperative. This is a result of the cable, after several motions from HOT to COLD, falling off the actuator arm. At the end of the HVAC temperature control cable, the cable winds into a coil and offset to the left or right. If the cable has fallen off the actuator arm, it will be necessary to reinstall.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Remove the HVAC control head leaving the cable attached to the control head. Install the cable to the actuator arm so the coil offset faces towards actuator arm. Once the cable is installed, reinstall the control head routing the cable in a way that will prevent binding. Finally inspect operation of the temperature control.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
