Models:2004-2006 Chevrolet Colorado Pick Up
2004-2006 GMC Canyon Pick Up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

When removing the key from the ignition, it may be noted that the Service Engine Soon (SES) light remains illuminated and DTC P1682 and P2610 are stored. This may be the result of the Horn Relay in the Underhood Bussed Electrical Center (UBEC) was installed in the wrong position. The Horn relay is located in position number 55. Next to relay 55, are 4 open cavities with terminals that will also accept the same relay but for this vehicle, these positions are not used. When installing the relay, it can be easily installed in the wrong position or a shared position with 2 terminals of the relay in the correct location and 2 terminals in the incorrect location. The above symptoms were the only ones noted however other symptoms may apply.

Recommendation/Instructions:

If the DTC or symptoms above are experienced, remove the Horn relay and Install the relay in the correct position. Be sure the body of the Horn relay in position 55 lines up with relay number 51. Refer to the electrical center identification view below to ensure the relay is in the correct location.
