When servicing any components that require the removal of the door trim panel and/or the power mirror, window, and door lock switch plate assembly, the following steps should be taken to avoid damaging or breaking the clip tower, which holds the plate to the door panel in the front.

  1. Remove the two screws securing the switch plate assembly to the door trim panel.
  2. Lift the front of the plate up to disengage the clip.

If lifting the rear of the assembly first, it will break the clip tower.
