2006 Hummer H3 |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
There have been serval reports of difficulty, when key coding an ignition lock cylinder. Typically, the deepest key cut (valley) is the larger number tumbler and the tallest cut (peak) is the smallest number tumbler. This may not be true when coding a key cylinder for the models listed above.
If difficulty is experienced when coding the ignition or lock cylinder with the tumblers not dropping when the key is installed, perform the following...
• | Replace all tumblers that specify a number 1 tumbler per the key code, replace with a number 4 tumbler |
• | Replace all tumblers that specify a number 2 tumbler per the key code, replace with a number 3 tumbler |
• | Replace all tumblers that specify a number 3 tumbler per the key code, replace with a number 2 tumbler |
• | Replace all tumblers that specify a number 4 tumbler per the key code, replace with a number 1 tumbler |
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
