SERVICE VME

This message is concerning PDI procedures for Chevrolet Colorado & GMC Canyon however it is applicable to all GM vehicles with remote transmitters.

Some customers have received new GM vehicles with only one of the two remote transmitters functioning therefore requiring an unplanned service visit for remote programming.

The GM PDI process includes a functional test of all keys and remotes prior to vehicle delivery; if a remote is found inoperative during the inspection process it must be programmed or repaired prior to customer delivery. GM is investigating the remote transmitter programming process to minimize any risk of un-programmed remote delivery.

All GM dealers should assess their current key control and PDI processes to insure key and remote availability for 100% quality control inspection prior to customer delivery. If key control prevents key and remote availability for PDI inspection then the control process must be modified to accommodate the 100% PDI inspection requirement.

A customer's first impression of the vehicle you deliver establishes your service relationship and sets the stage for customer satisfaction success.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
