Subject:Unable to Program Key Fobs

Models:2004-2007 Chevrolet Colorado Pick Up
2004-2007 GMC Canyon Pick Up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some technicians may comment of difficulty in programming keyfobs. Further it may be noted that only the first fob programmed to the vehicle will work. The Tech2 data will show only one fob is programmed.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Program the fobs using the Tech 2 method. Using the Tech 2, select program key fobs under BCM special functions menu. Press the soft key labeled "Start" to begin programming. Program the first fob by holding the lock and unlock buttons on the fob until the vehicle acknowledges the program by cycling the door locks. Program each additional fob one at a time by pressing the lock and unlock and wait for the vehicle to acknowledge the program of each fob.

Note: There is no need to press the "Start" or "Stop" for each additional fob. Once all the key fobs are programmed, cycle the ignition per the Tech 2 instructions. Evaluate the operation of each key fob.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
