Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.
- Using the proper tool, remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
- Remove fluid lever sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the brake lines from the ABS module to the master cylinder.
Important: Install a rubber cap or plug to the exposed brake pipe fitting in order to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
- Install the rubber cap and or plugs the brake lines.
- Remove the mounting bolts from the master cylinder.
- Remove the master cylinder.
Installation Procedure
- Bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding
.
- Install the master cylinder on the mounting studs.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the mounting nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Install the fluid lever sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the rubber caps and or plugs from the brake lines.
- Install the brake lines from the ABS module to the master cylinder.
Tighten
Tighten the brake line fittings to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
- Fill the reservoir with fluid. Refer to
Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling

- Check the operation of the brake system. Bleed the brakes if necessary. Refer to
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
