PARKING BRAKE CABLE RATTLE (NOISE) PARK BRAKE CABLE GUIDE BRACKET ATTACHING BOLT BREAKS
Some 1987-88 L-Cars may experience a rattling type noise in the rear of the vehicle. This may be caused if the park brake cable guide bracket attaching bolt breaks. The remaining clips will hold the cable securely in place, but the cable may rattle against the underbody. If this should occur, remove the broken bolt and replace with a new bolt, P/N 11508280, and torque to 8-11 Nm (6 to 7.5 ft. lbs.).
If the guide bracket is missing, it must also be replaced (P/N 22535953).

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
