MANUAL UPDATE SEC. 6A OIL FILTER ADAPTER

Model and Year: 1990 A, J, L, W CARS AND U-VAN (UPV) WITH 3.1 L (VIN CODE T) ENGINE

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND SUPERSEDES DEALER SERVICE BULLETIN NO. 90-112-6A, DATED DECEMBER 1989. THE 3.1L ENGINE HAS BEEN SPECIFIED. ALL COPIES OF 90-112-6A SHOULD BE DISCARDED.

Use this procedure when servicing the oil filter adapter on the following vehicles with the 3.1 L engine.

U - VAN

Oil Filter Adapter

Remove or Disconnect

- Raise vehicle and suitably support, refer to GENERAL INFORMATION (SECTION OA).

1. Oil filter

2. Oil pressure sensor wires

3. Oil pressure sensor

4. Connector

5. Adapter and gasket

Clean

- Oil filter ada ter and engine block mating surface

Install or Connect

1. Gasket

2. Adapter

3. Connector

Tighten

- Connector to 67 N.m (50 lb.ft.)

4. Oil pressure sensor

5. Oil Pressure sensor wires

6. Oil filter

- Lower vehicle

- Check oil level and fill to proper level if necessary. Refer to MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION (SECTION OB).

Remove or Disconnect

- Raise vehicle and suitably support, refer to GENERAL INFORMATION (SECTION OA).

2. Connector

3. Adapter and gasket

Clean

- Oil filter adapter and engine block mating surface.

Install or Connect

1. Gasket

2. Adapter

3. Connector

Tighten

- Connector to 67 N.m (50 lb. ft.)

4. Oil filter

- Lower vehicle

- Check oil level and fill to proper level if necessary. Refer to MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION (SECTION OB).

Remove or Disconnect

- Raise vehicle and suitably support, refer to GENERAL INFORMATION (SECTION OA).

2. Adapter bolt/screw

3. Adapter

4. Gasket and seal

Clean

- Oil filter adapter and engine block mating surface.

Install or Connect

1. Gasket and seal

2. Adapter

3. Adapter bolt/screw

Tighten

- Bolt/screw to 67 N.m (50 lb. ft.)

4. Oil filter

- Lower vehicle

- Check oil level and fill to proper level if necessary. Refer to MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION (SECTION OB).
