--------- Engine cooling fan inoperative, which may result in engine overheating or poor A/C performance (if equipped).
----- Engine cooling fan wiring leads may rub against the transaxle case between the point of "breaking out" of the main engine harness and the fan connector.
---------- Repair wiring and install a protective plastic conduit to insulate the wiring from direct contact on the transaxle case Refer to attached Illustration). Use the following procedure:
1. Disconnect engine cooling fan wiring leads.
2. Repair wiring as required. Refer to Section 8A of the applicable Service Manual for proper wiring repair.
3. Obtain a length of approximately 225 mm (9 inches) of 9.5 mm (3/8 inch) diameter plastic conduit, P/N 8919354 (or equivalent). Install over the cooling fan wiring, starting at the "break out point" of the cooling fan wiring, and run towards the cooling fan.
4. Using common "black" tape (locally obtained part), tape both ends of the conduit to the wires, then tape the entire length of the conduit.
For vehicles repaired under warranty use: 0.4 Hrs.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
