Condition: A/C high-side pressure switch connector becomes partially disconnected, or will not stay connected, causing the A/C to be inoperative.
Cause: Due to the orientation of the A/C hose during assembly, the switch connector may contact the generator brace, with engine movement. (This movement occurs during engine acceleration/ deceleration.) The combination of the connector making contact with the brace, and the engine moving, may partially "unplug" the switch. Refer to Figure 1.
Correction: Recover refrigerant and replace the hose to condenser inlet line "O" ring, using the proper handling procedures provided in the Service Manual.
Before tightening the joint, align A/C hose as shown in Figure 2, keeping this orientation while torquing the joint to proper specifications. Complete the procedure as provided in the Service Manual.
Warranty and Labor Time Information:
Use current Labor Operation and Time for "O" Ring Replacement.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
