CRANKCASE VENT HEATER SHORTED (REPLACE VENT HEATER)

Subject: CRANKCASE VENT HEATER POTENTIAL SERVICE ISSUES

ENGINE APPLICATIONS: SUBJECT: 2.3L (VIN A) Crankcase Vent Heater Potential (RPO LGO) Service Issue and Service Manual Information VEHICLE APPLICATIONS: 1992 Model Year L Cars

CONDITION:

--------- Several conditions may occur depending on car line. The L car may have an ABS light on (Fuse #4 blown). Service conditions are not limited to the examples given above, refer to the bulletins referenced below and Section 8A in the respective Service Manual for additional systems which may be affected.

CAUSE:

----- The crankcase Vent heater assembly may have shorted out.

CORRECTION:

---------- Replace the crankcase vent heater assembly if assembly has shorted out (GM P/N 24572353 Heater, Crankcase Vent).

SERVICE INFORMATION:

Review Section 6E3-Cl3 Dealer Service Bulletin No. 92-179-6E and Section 8A Dealer Service Bulletin No. 92-2O4-8A to determine if crankcase vent heater has shorted out. Replace the crankcase vent heater as needed.

Section 8A-32 in the Service Manual is the wiring schematic information for the crankcase vent heater assembly.
